Most budget hosts make money on the renewal, not the sale. We’d rather make a little less and keep you for years.
The renewal trick, and why we don’t play it
Large hosts advertise $2–3/month, lock you in for 3–4 years, then renew at 3–4× that. Our Starter plan is $6/month today and $6/month in year three. If we ever change a price, it applies to new orders — existing customers keep theirs until they change plans.
Who answers your ticket
SemaniHost is run by Trey Kaiser, founder of SemaniGroup, an AI and software consultancy in Los Angeles. Support is handled by Trey and a small team with root access — not a tier-1 script. Our target is a first response within 4 business hours and within 12 hours overnight and weekends. We publish our real numbers on the status page once we have enough history to be honest about them.
What we run
- AMD Ryzen 9000-series bare-metal server at OVHcloud Beauharnois (Canada), NVMe storage in mirrored pairs
- Proxmox virtualization, AlmaLinux 9 with CloudLinux
- DirectAdmin control panel — clean, fast, and without the licence cost that cPanel passes on to you
- Imunify360 WAF and malware scanner, CSF firewall, hypervisor-level firewall
- Backups nightly to the server, the hypervisor’s ZFS pool, and off-site
- Cloudflare DNS and DDoS protection for our own infrastructure
What we’re not (yet)
We don’t have a global edge network, a 24/7 phone line, or a sales team. We run one production node today, with a documented rebuild procedure and off-site backups, and we’ll add a second node when the customer base justifies it. If you need a financially-backed 99.99% SLA, we’re not the right host yet — and we’ll tell you so.
